As technologies such as virtual reality, Internet of Things, and autonomous vehicles move closer to the mainstream it is clear their effect on how local government delivers services to its residents, as well as saves time, money and labor will improve. Additionally, according to research firm Gartner, local government CIOs are steadily increasing their spending on digital initiatives designed to increase the value of government to constituents – and on average increase their spending by 3.5%, as compared to 1.4 federally. This panel will cover current initiatives in emerging tech the DC Government is researching and piloting in.
