The Washington Metro area is one of the strongest economies in the United States; however, some communities continue to confront challenges and barriers. Mayor Bowser’s vision is for the District of Columbia “to become the global model for inclusive prosperity and resilience, showcasing how diversity and innovation can drive equitable economic growth.”  Core to maintaining the region’s competitive advantage ad realizing the Mayor’s vision for the District of Columbia is having an educated, highly engaged, job-ready workforce.  How do we make certain that our children and youth are prepared to learn?  How do we ensure that our children are being exposed to the appropriate curriculum and experiences applicable to the future of our evolving workforce and needs of employers?  What does it mean to be “career-ready?” How can we provide this education, training and experience both affordably and equitably? This session will explore innovative partnerships and technology solutions being pursued today to ensure that residents in all eight Wards of the District of Columbia are equally prepared to not only participate and thrive in the region’s economic future, but shape and drive it.
