DC Commission on Fashion, Arts, and Events (CFAE) workshop on marketing for fashion/beauty businesses. Session will cover plans for event marketing, digital/print marketing, overall fashion brand marketing and beauty brand marketing. Attendees will leave having learned how to effectively market a fashion or beauty business from experts from CFAE. CFAE Commissioners will lead the session.

An interdisciplinary workshop about the value of design thinking and human-centered design to support social innovation. How can a human-centered design approach can create spaces, both digital and real, that support and spur engagement and advocacy for an inclusive and innovative society. Our workshop will include examples from industries ranging from zoning law to experiential design, as well as general concepts and strategies regarding mindset, creativity, and problem-solving. Best practices for creatives and makers of all types to use in their work and daily life.

Despite being the capital of innovation, DC is known for being home of the old guard. The ways that audiences in DC understand tech is outdated and slow to change, and it is up to industry to close this knowledge gap. Entrepreneurs must tailor their approach to different audiences, including investors, customers, the media, and policymakers, while moving seamlessly between these groups.  A strong brand and outreach strategy is the first step towards long-term effective engagement inside the Beltway.

A conversation on the Age of The Creative entrepreneur, highlighting staple creatives in the DMV community and diving deeper into how they've used their creativity to ditch industry standards and the corporate gigs for creative entrepreneurship to create on their terms.

We'll get insight on their approach to solve problems, empower communities, lead change and activate grassroots audiences all through creativity, their narratives, the creative platforms or storytelling they've created.

The District's population and the regional economy which it anchors is expected to hit 1 million and 7 million residents respectively.  

This broad ranging discussion about the DIstrict's innovation-driven entrepreneurial ecosystem and the unique seat-of-power-nexus it occupies, will explore what the next 20 years looks like.  An exciting evolution of the ecosystem's components is happening - from its investment capital sources to its research centers to new business formation to the local-federal spend.  We will talk about how DC can leverage those components and continue to be a formidable competitor in the ultimate battles that determine success - attracting talent.
