Jason Meyer
Jason Meyer is a director in APCO Worldwide’s Washington office, where he supports clients in navigating the complex intersection of reputation, advocacy and social impact. He has deep expertise in digital communications and brand strategy, with sustained experience in the areas of technology, artificial intelligence, transportation, public health, energy/environment, travel/tourism and multicultural dynamics.
In his most recent role as a senior brand manager for Marriott International, Mr. Meyer developed and implemented the hospitality giant’s global digital strategy to identify, engage and retain talent and supported the company’s employee engagement initiatives. He also oversaw the development of an artificial intelligence technology to directly engage job seekers across the world and drove the content and distribution strategy for Marriott's global email marketing campaigns to enhance talent acquisition.
Prior to joining Marriott, Mr. Meyer spent nearly six years with APCO as a leading digital and brand strategist in the firm’s Washington office. He worked across several of APCO’s prominent client accounts, including a leadership role in the firm’s successful support of the United Nations Foundation’s Shot@Life campaign. Additionally, Mr. Meyer partnered with Google and other large technology companies to develop the brand and go-to-market strategy for the international professional association for app developers, the Developers Alliance. A communications industry veteran, Mr. Meyer worked for Ogilvy Public Relations, Edelman and Becker Communications earlier in his career.
Mr. Meyer holds a Master of Arts in media and public affairs from The George Washington University. He graduated cum laude from Wake Forest University with a bachelor’s degree in psychology and has completed extensive coursework in Spain, both at la Universidad de Salamanca and la Universidad de Burgos, where he also taught coursework on U.S. media and pop culture.
Mr. Meyer is a fluent Spanish speaker.
His leadership in strategic advocacy and community relations garnered a Silver Anvil and an Award of Excellence through PRSA’s 2016 annual recognition. In 2012, campaigns that Mr. Meyer managed on behalf of APCO clients were awarded the Silver Sabre award (branding & identity), the PR News Nonprofit award (digital PR & marketing) and five Communicator awards (advertising, nonprofit and logo design). As a recognition of his proven track record in digital influence and behavior change via strategic communications, PR News named Mr. Meyer one of 2012’s “People to Watch: Rising PR Stars 30 and Under.”
