Jon Harsch
202works Co-Founder & CEO
Jon Harsch is co-founder and CEO of 202works, a tech platform designed to make public policy expertise simple to access. Lawyers, policy advisors, lobbyists and PR professionals all use 202works to highlight their specialized policy skills and knowledge so that potential employers and clients can find them. Organizations can search expert profiles and connect with policy experts on virtually any issue, for any budget, including pro bono.
Jon spent 12 years as federal government relations representative to over 50 non-profits and corporations, including CUNA Mutual, Amerigroup, the AIDS Healthcare Foundation, the Association for Financial Professionals, Operation Hope, and the Early Care and Education Consortium. Jon has served as a vice president and founding partner of multiple government relations firms and previously founded Crossfire Strategies, an internet reputation management company.
Jon has worked on local, state, and federal campaigns in New York, Pennsylvania, New Hampshire, Virginia, Washington DC, and Wisconsin, including Tammy Baldwin for Senate (2012), Obama for President (2008), and Tim Kaine for Governor (2005). While on the campaign trail, Jon was struck by the disconnect between how policymaking works in Washington and how that process is viewed outside the beltway. With the goal of providing open, unbiased access to the US policymaking process, 202works was born.
Jon and his 202works team are based in Washington DC and San Francisco. The 202works team receives inquiries from organizations around the world each week. In August, hiring requests from Silicon Valley companies searching for GR and PR experts made up 58% of inquiries.
